The A4 Saloon is Audi’s second smallest saloon. It’s larger than the A3 Saloon, but there’s more space on offer in the A6 Saloon. If you don’t want to splash on an A6, the A4 Avant is still a more practical option. It has an elongated roofline and more space in the rear. 

There are plenty of engines to choose from, whether you’re looking for a diesel, petrol, front-wheel-drive or quattro all-wheel-drive. The 35 TDI is the most economical, returning 58.9mpg. Managing 0-60mph in 8.2 seconds, it isn’t exactly slow. The 40 TDI quattro offers the best performance of the range. 

Comfort Dynamic suspension favours - you guessed it - passenger comfort. Paired with the default 17- or 18-inch wheels, it has no trouble with any lumps and bumps in the road. Body movement feels perfectly controlled.

And there’s more: four-way electrically operated lumbar adjustment is standard on entry-level Technik trim and above, while Sport Edition trim offers super supportive sports seats that hold you in place more securely through corners.

All models get the excellent Audi Virtual Cockpit and Audi MMI infotainment system as standard, so you’ll always arrive at your destination on time and in a cheerful mood.
