Leasing an Audi R8 Spyder

Background to the Audi R8 Spyder

The R8 range dates back to 2006 and has undergone several facelifts and updates since, but it was the Spyder, released in 2008, that really caught the eye. The current generation of models date back to 2015, with the upgraded Spyder launched in 2017. There are four trims; the V10 RWD, V10 Quattro, V10 Performance Quattro and V10 Performance Carbon Black.

Audi R8 Spyder Engines and Performance

There’s only one fuel type, and that is petrol. There are three engines to choose from - the RWD and Quattro designs are both Spyder 5.2-litre FSI engines, with the RWD offering 540 PS of power and the Quattro 570 PS. The Performance models are also 5.2-litre TFI units but with 620 PS of power. All models have a 7-speed S tronic automatic gearbox. The entry-level model has a top speed of 198 mph and can accelerate from 0-62 in just 3.8 seconds.

Audi R8 Spyder Trim Levels

The 19-inch alloy wheels for the V10 RWD are upgraded to 20-inches for the Performance vehicles, while the V10 Performance Carbon Black has extended black stylings for the mirrors and sides. Other trim levels include bucket or leather seating, eight colours, electrically adjustable seats, black inlays, LED lighting, the Comfort+Sound Pack and an Espresso coffee machine is an option.

Audi R8 Spyder Safety and Infotainment Features

A 12-inch touchscreen interface makes up the virtual cockpit of the R8 Spyder, through which you can access control of the stereo system and MMI navigation.  Audi Auto Connect gives access to the Internet. The cruise control on the Spyder can be programmed with a speed limit, while the Parking System provides audio and visual help to park safely.

Audi R8 Spyder Servicing and Warranty

Audis’ new cars come with a three-year warranty, which is limited to 60,000 miles. This can be upgraded to four years and 75,000 miles or five years and 90,000 miles. Audi recommends that the R8 Spyder should be serviced annually and they offer a free health check-up to ensure the motor is running at its peak.

Related Models from other Manufacturers

The Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet lease is often compared to the Audi R8 Spyder lease deal due to its similar look and specs. It too only has a petrol engine and exudes high-end style and power. The Jaguar F-type convertible lease deals are also worth considering - as are the sibling Audi R8 lease deals.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Much is it to Lease an Audi R8 Spyder?

Contract hire pricing will depend on various features, including your mileage, specs and whether or not it is a personal leasing contract. This means you can minimise costs by filtering out features that you do not need. You can arrange for a callback from a broker’s registered office to discuss your needs. Road tax is included.

Is it Better to Buy or Lease an Audi R8 Spyder?

Unless you are intent on owning the vehicle, car leasing can be the easier and most affordable option of the two. It also allows you to change your car every few years to the newest models when your contract ends. Another advantage over buying is that you don’t have to worry about the car’s depreciation because you do not own it.
