What cars come with Android Auto?

How much of your life do you run from your smartphone? Social life? Probably. Work life? Again, probably. Entertainment? Yep. Organisation? Yeah.

It’s genuinely amazing how much our phones do for us. And that gives car manufacturers a bit of a headache. With bans on phone use while driving, how do you keep people connected behind the wheel?

The most recent answer to that question is smartphone mirroring, which is better known by its brand names Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Smartphone mirroring is basically a way to get stuff from your phone into your car’s infotainment system, allowing you to legally and safely take calls, access Google Maps and play music while driving.

Apple CarPlay is (unsurprisingly) Apple’s version of the car technology. In this blog, I’ll take a whistlestop tour through all the car models that currently work with this piece of car connectivity tech. Let’s get started.

What is Android Auto?

Before we get to the specific models that support Android Auto, here’s a quick refresher on what it actually is.

Android Auto takes some of the features and functionality from your Android smartphone and ‘projects’ them into your infotainment system.

So, instead of fumbling through an unintuitive sat nav system that came with your car, you can fire up a fully up-to-date Google Maps via your phone and get on your way.

It’s a great feature because it lets car manufacturers to focus on what they’re great at (building cars) while letting phone manufacturers do what they do best (building great mobile experiences).

What cars come with Android Auto?

Unfortunately, not all cars are compatible with Android Auto. Some manufacturers have opted not to allow Android to integrate with their infotainment systems while others simply haven’t released an updated model just yet.

Here is a list of all cars on LeaseFetcher that are compatible with Android Auto. (Those marked with an asterisk aren’t compatible just yet but will be soon.)
