Mercedes EQB Lease

The Mercedes BFG - ahem, EQB - is Mercedes’ ‘Big Friendly Giant’ of an electric car. Unlike the BFG, it doesn’t run on frobscottle and whizzpoppers - just clean, green electric power. With enough space to seat seven, it’s a firm family favourite. Less More

The EQB is the all-electric version of the GLB, and it’s one of three electric SUVs produced by Mercedes. It’s flanked on either side by the smaller EQA and the more luxurious EQC. If you’re set on a seven-seater, you may also want to check out the EQV MPV.

All EQBs come with a 66.5kWh battery pack and have 4MATIC four-wheel-drive. The EQB can manage 257 miles on a single charge, and 100kW DC rapid charging will get you from 10-80% at a service station in around 30 minutes.

Predictably, for a car of its size, the EQB is a competent load-lugger. Boot space is negligible with all three rows up – but in five-seat mode you get a decent 465 litres. This extends to 1,320 litres with a flat floor. It tows up to 1,800kg, so it’s great for family getaways.

There’ll be no more ‘are we there yet’ with Mercedes’ MBUX multimedia system and widescreen cockpit displays. With a simple ‘Hey Mercedes’, you can queue the next song and adjust the THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control to keep everyone happy.

The EQB packs in plenty of active safety features, from Active Lane Keeping Assist and Collision Prevention Assist to PARKTRONIC Parking Assistance. For extra peace of mind, add the Driving Assistance Package for DISTRONIC Active Distance Assist, Traffic Sign Assist, and much more.

So far, the EQB has managed to carve a niche for itself. For other seven-seat electric models, look at the Citroen e-Berlingo or the Peugeot e-Traveller.
